To Whom It May Concern, Our school recently had the gift of having Andjru do his “Elements of Music and Dance” assembly. It was a “hit” with staff and students alike. I will forever hold the image of students and staff all bouncing to a rhythm as Andjru spoke to us about the connection between humans, music, and dance. His grasp of these concepts, combined with his ability to hold an audience with his skills and humor, was a joy to be a part of. How often do students and staff get to be in creative space, touching the borders of sacred space, talking and thinking about something innate to us all-while still mysterious and often hidden? Inhibition and an inability to find and then be true to our selves is a foundational issue in human development. Students really benefited from Andjru explicitly talking about these concepts and then showing them how healthy it is to actualize this in their lives. By discussing the history and aspects of music as well as dance, Andjru helps students touch something inherent to their being, and lets them see how healthy and awesome the power of music and dance can be. It taught students how important it is to allow this power into their daily lives and reminded us all what a positive and powerful force it can be as we continue our development. Thank you Andjru!
